Gary Robert Seidel left this earth; onward, upward and forward, for his new world on Friday, April 19, 2013. Gary was born on March 18, 1954 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Robert and Mary Ann (Serns) Seidel. Gary attended Brother Dutton Elementary School and Beloit Catholic High School, graduating in 1972. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1977. He then moved to California were he worked for Rolm Corporation, Xerox, and IBM. He returned in 1990, where he met the love of his life, Cindy Burns Rohrer at their Beloit Catholic High School class reunion. Gary and Cindy were married on November 2, 1991 in their home, and Gary became step-father to Nathan, Eric, and Andrew Rohrer.
Gary was owner and president of Point 1 Commercial Real Estate Company, serving the Wisconsin and Illinois areas. Gary was very involved in the community serving and volunteering on many boards and committees, including the Beloit Board of Ethics, the Beloit School board, the Beloit City council, Community Action, the Beloit Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus and NEBA. In addition, Gary was an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, serving faithfully and happily on the fish fry crew. He also was a very involved volunteer for the Beloit Snappers baseball team.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife Cindy, loving sons Nathan (Wade Schaaf) Rohrer of Chicago, IL, Eric (Riley) Rohrer and Andrew Rohrer of Beloit. He is further survived by his parents Bob and Mary Ann Seidel; brothers Dan (Marcia) Seidel of St. Charles, MO and Jim (Deb) Seidel of Fort Mill, SC; sisters Cindy (Perry) Folts and Therese (Dave) Oldenberg both of Beloit and nieces and nephews Marcus, Matthew, Tyler, Katie, Josh, Allie, and Gracie. Grandson Brysen Michael Rohrer is expected by Eric and Riley in July!
Gary’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in OUR LADY of the ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. No formal visitation is planned. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Inurnment in Mt. Tabor Cemetery will follow the service. A gathering will be held with refreshments at Church after the burial to share stories and memories of Gary. In lieu of flowers, Gary has requested that all memorials please be sent to his wife Cindy to be disbursed to charities according to his wishes.
