Janette Kohls Clinton Janette Kohls, age 103, of Clinton died Sunday October 4, 2015 at Huntington Place in Janesville. She was born February 25, 1912 to the late Robert and Harriet (James) Snyder on the family homestead in Clinton. She attended Clinton School, graduating in 1930 and completed her education at the Teachers College in Whitewater. She married Harold "Dick" Kohls June 1, 1940 in the Little Brown Church in Iowa. Dick preceded her in death in 1989. Janette was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. Besides being a mom, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, farm wife, department store employee (now Elder Beerman), school board member (10 years), chairperson of Clinton’s Bi-Centennial (1976), originator of the 6th grade outdoor week (still in existence), organizer of the Clinton DAR (holding membership for 40 years), one of the coordinators for the Senior Center, Janette was involved with the state, county and local historical societies. She enjoyed planning parties, reading and time with her family. She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Mary) Kohls of Austin, Texas and Albert (Betty) Kohls of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Angel (Shannon) Davis, Bradley (Lisa) Kohls, Chris Kohls, Susan (Jeremy) Cratsenberg, Stephen (Katrina) Kohls, Gregory Kohls, Matthew (Kate) Kohls; fifteen great grandchildren, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Cristian, Austin, Holden, Elenor, Lillian, Dylan, Cody, Becca, Analise, Reid, Veronica, Alexis & Brielle and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two sisters, Esther Bestul and Marjorie Bestul.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hunting Place, Alden Meadow Park and Riverside Terrace for the care they gave Janette.
Janette’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 10, 2015 at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 312 Church Street with Rev. Paul Kucera officiating. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday in the Brian G. Mark Funeral Home, 504 Milwaukee Road, Clinton and again on Saturday at Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following Interment will take place in Eastlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or the Clinton Historical Society. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Kohls family on our website.
