Prayerful memories for the life of Robert E. Roth age 82, of Clinton, taken to eternal life with his family surrounding him on Friday January 27, 2012 in his home. Bob was born July 20, 1929 to the late Henry W. and Dorothy (Salisbury) Roth in Janesville. He was a graduate of Sharon High School, class of 1947. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy on December 7, 1950 and served his Country during the Korean Conflict on the USS Jarvis. Robert became a Machinist 2nd Mate class, was transferred to The Shanandoah and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1954. He married the former Anna Timmerman on November 10, 1951 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Loves Park. Bob completed his Tool and Die Apprenticeship at Fairbanks Morse in Beloit. He worked at a variety of Tool Shops until he established his shop with partners at the Beloit Precision Die in 1966, retiring in 1994. Bob was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Clinton since moving from Sharon in 1976. He served on the Volunteer Fire Dept. in Sharon and was a member of the American Legion Post 440 in Clinton. Bob was a longtime RC airplane hobbyist and a member of the Radio Control Airplane Club of Tiffany (RAMS) for many years. He enjoyed many hours of fun with his entire family golfing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and card playing. Bob also enjoyed family trips and traveling the world with his wife, Ann. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Roth; his seven children, Stephen Roth of Beloit, Susan Meudt of AZ, Jan (Bob) Baker of Elkhorn, Shirley (Jim) Bender of Janesville, Rick (Jodi) Roth of Harvard, IL, Tom (Bernita) Roth of Milton and Jill (Tim) Woelfel of Waukesha WI; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and special nieces, Tam Westrand of Stoughton & Dawn Hildenbrant of Walworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Karen Roth and his sister and brother in law, Jean & Bob Westrand.
To all who have been there for us and provided a gentle touch, a tender hug, a word of compassion, a push in the right direction, please accept on behalf of his family our heartfelt gratitude.
Bob’s Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in ST. STEPHEN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 716 Shular Lane, Clinton with Fr. Bill Connell officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday at Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service the cortege will proceed to Clinton Cemetery for interment and Full Military Burial Rites. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Stephen’s Catholic Church or Beloit Regional Hospice.
