Donald Porter age 94 of South Beloit, IL died Monday, April 22, 2024 at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation & Heath Care Center in South Beloit. He was born June 24, 1929 to Frank and Mary (Ellis) Porter in South Beloit, IL. He graduated from South Beloit High School, class of 1947. Donald married his loving wife of 70 years, Florence Maxon, in July of 1953. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2024. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served his country, including a tour in Korea, until his honorable discharge. Don spent many years working at FM Porter & Sons. He also worked in real estate, and as a car salesman, until his retirement in 1991.
Donald enjoyed photography- both black & white and color. He spent time at the VFW and was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Covenant Church.
He is survived by his daughter Susan (Brad) Dillet; son Marc (Lynette) Porter; grandchildren Erika (Andy) and Chad (Molly); great-grandchild Rhett; his sister Evelyn Kramar, brothers Roland Porter and Leonard (Donna) Porter, his brother-in-law Clarence, and many beloved nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, brother-in-law Bud Kramar, and sisters-in-law Arlene Porter and Betty Furset.

Donald’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Family & friends will be received in the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Floral Lawn Cemetery Chapel in South Beloit. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Donald’s name to the South Beloit American Legion Post 288. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
