Alva Gardner Obituary

Alva "Al" Gardner age 80 died Sunday May 20, 2018 at Alden Meadow Park in Clinton. He was born August 28, 1937 to the late Floyd and Amelia (Karsh) Gardner in Quincy, IL. Al enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served his Country until his honorable discharge. He married Donna Schmitt on July 2, 1960 in South Beloit IL. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2004. Al worked at the Beloit Foundry as well the South Beloit Police Dept. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, the Chicago Bears and riding his motorcycle. Most of all, Al loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Floyd "Mitch" (Adrienne) Gardner of Caledonia, IL, Mark (Jeanine) Gardner of Bloom City, WI and Sherry (Tim) O’Grady of Beloit; six grandchildren, Josh (Ashley) Gardner and their two children, Logan & Elaina, Stefanie (Corey) Tucker and their three children, Alyannah, Cassius & Corie Mae, Amanda (Justin) Goble and their two children, Olivia & Shelby, Tim Jr. (Marissa) O’Grady and their son, Mason, Patrick (Jessica) O’Grady and their son Jackson, and Mackenzy O’Grady and his two sisters in law, Helen White and Joyce Hogan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters, Irene & Rosemary.

The family would like to thank the staff at Alden Meadow Park in Clinton and St. Croix Hospice for the care they gave their Dad.

Viewing and visitation for Al will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit. Burial will be private. Please share a memory or a condolence with the family on our website.
