Bess Cochrane Davies

Bess Cochrane Davies passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 23, 2018, in Beloit, WI. She was born July 10, 1937, at Beloit Municipal Hospital.  Bess married James Cochrane on July 16, 1955.  She had a second marriage to Melvin Davies on December 29, 1979.   She proudly worked 37 years at Beloit Corporation.

Bess loved to play golf and belonged to the Krueger Haskell Women’s Golf Leagues.  She also enjoyed animals, dogs, playing cards, and working in the yard.  Bess attended Central Christian Church and was a lifelong resident of Beloit.  In recent years, Bess enjoyed winters in Sebring, FL, and made many new friends at The Bluffs.

Because of Bess’s zest for life and friendly spirit, she was loved by many.  Her remarkable influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.   In her final weeks, Bess enjoyed and appreciated the many calls, cards, and visits from cherished friends across the country.

Bess was preceded in death by spouse Melvin Davies, infant daughter Susan Elizabeth Cochrane, son Michael James Cochrane, and puppies Corky & Hannah.  Bess leaves many friends to cherish her life and loving memory. She is survived by her son Mark (Janna) Cochrane, grandchildren Nicholas and Emma, Appleton WI, and loving companion Bill Unsworth, Sebring, FL.  

The family would like to express our greatest gratitude to Beloit Regional Hospice with special thanks to Bess's Hospice Nurse, Melissa. The care and love you provided to her is appreciated more than you can imagine.  We would also like to thank Pastor David Meding for his spiritual support and friendship.

A Celebration of Bess’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Brian Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway,  Beloit, WI with Pastor David Meding officiating.  Friends will be received on Thursday 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Those who wish to remember Bess in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Beloit Regional Hospice.  Please share a memory or a condolence with the family on our website.
