Beverly Shockley Obituary

Beverly J. Shockley, 90, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Riverside Terrace, Beloit, WI.  Born January 7, 1929 in Beloit, the daughter of Burton F. Hopper and Nina (Engebretson) Hopper, Beverly spent most of her life in Beloit. Beverly was a 1947 graduate of Beloit High School. Beverly married Charles "Chuck" Shockley on August 13, 1966 in Beloit.  She was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Company as a Key Punch Operator in the Computer Department, retiring in 1970. 

Beverly was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Beloit and attended First Presbyterian Church in Mission, Texas near McAllen, Texas where she and Chuck resided for 10 years. Beverly was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Phoenix Chapter), Rainbow Girls, Intermediate Women and the Beloit Hospital Auxiliary. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, playing mahjong and reading.

Survivors include son, David (Wendy) Kunz of Woodbury, MN; daughter, Candace (Henry) Tao of Pleasant Hill, CA; daughter, Penny Kunz of Kirkland, WA; son, Steven Shockley of Menominee, WI; son, Dennis (Becky) Shockley of Janesville, WI; daughter in law Cathy Shockley of Manawa, WI;  12 grandchildren, Justin Kunz, Erin (Eric) Lauer, Ashley (Daniel) Marquez, Justin Tao, Lisa Shockley, Steven Shockley, Kirk (Sherri) Shockley, Jason Shockley, Sarah Newlun, Meagan Cook, Christopher (Kristen) Lynch and Matthew (Kristina) Lynch; 14 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles "Chuck" Shockley; her parents Burton and Nina; son, Mark Shockley; grandson Chris Shockley; brother Eugene Hopper and wife Donna; and brother Dick Hopper and wife Marge.

Special thanks go to the staff of Riverside Terrace Assisted Living Center for providing Beverly a comfortable, pleasant, safe and nurturing home for the past 10 years.

A Celebration of Beverly’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019, in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway,  Beloit, WI with the Pastor Gene Van Galder officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. A private inurnment will be in the Shrine of Memories Mausoleum, Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Beverly's name to the Beloit Health System Foundation.
