David L. Thomas

David “Cricket” Thomas, age 68, of Beloit died Friday June 29, 2018 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born August 4, 1949 to the late Dewey and Doris (Lanning) Thomas in Beloit. Dave attended Beloit Memorial High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served his Country until his honorable discharge. Dave married Sherrie Hayford on April 7, 2006. He worked for a short time at Bendix and then was employed at Warner Electric for 35 years until his retirement, serving the company in many different capacities. Dave enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed family outings to their trailer in Montello. He was a lifelong Beloiter, who believed he could fix anything, from small gas engines to an old lathe from the Beloit Corp. Dave enjoyed the solitude of being “up North” as well as the time spent in his garage “fixing everything”. He embraced the role of being and active grandfather. Dave will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Sherrie; his four children, Matt Thomas, Jamie Thomas, Connie Warne and Richard (Glenna) Warne; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brother, Duane (Bonnie) Thomas; his sister Debbie (Gordon) Wibon; his sister in law, Penny Thomas and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Danny and his son Blakley.

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Beloit Hospital and U. W. Madison for the care they gave to Dave.

Dave’s Funeral Service will be 12 Noon on Thursday July 5, 2018 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Rev. Ian Stirrat officiating.  Friends will be received on Thursday in the Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Following Dave’s service the cortege will process to Eastlawn Cemetery for interment and Full Military Burial Rites.
