James "Jim" P. Walsh

James "Jim" Walsh age 88 of Beloit died Monday December 31, 2018 at Premiere Care in Beloit. Jim was born October 1, 1930 to the late Leonard and Margaret (Kenucane) Walsh in Durand, IL. He graduated from Durand High School, class of 1948. Jim enlisted into the U.S. Army and served his Country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. He married Barbara A. Graham on February 19, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand. He was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church. In his early years, Jim worked as a farmer and then as a machinist at Barber Coleman for 30 years in Loves Park until his retirement in 1995. He was a proud Irishman, who was known to tell a good story. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for the love, generosity and sense of humor, he shared with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Walsh; his three children, Dennis Walsh, Terry Walsh and Mary Jo (Stephen) Hering; his five grandchildren, Tiffany (David) Rottinghaus, Stephanie Hering, Taylor (Yalda) Hering, Grant Hering and Morgan Walsh; three great grandchildren, Wesley, Grady & Ellis James; his sister in law, Florence Walsh and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, MaryLou Walsh and his two brothers, Joseph Walsh and Fr. Jerome Walsh.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Premiere Care  and Beloit Regional Hospice for the care and compassion they gave Dad.

Friends will be received at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 5, 2019 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 737 Hackett Street, Beloit until the time of Mass. Jim's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Church. Full Military Honors and interment will follow the service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Durand.  Please share a memory or a condolence with the family on our website.
