John H Taaffe

John Higgins Taaffe, age 95 of Chicago died Tuesday November 5, 2019 at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He was born June 14, 1924 to the late Joseph M. and Marie (Higgins) Taaffe Sr. in Chicago, IL. John was a World War II veteran, serving as a Lieutenant in the Air Force with the Air Technical Service Command in Milan, Italy. While stationed in California he attended UC Berkeley, and completed his education at Assumption College of Windsor, Ontario following the war. He worked for many years for Continental Bank and later became a speech writer for the city of Chicago, retiring in 1986. John was a resident of Edgewater for many years. 

He will be missed by his 27 nieces and nephews and many dear friends. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph, and sisters, Sheila, Mary Lenore, and Anne. 

John's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday November 11, 2019 at Saint Ita Catholic Church, 5500 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL with Fr. Arturo Felix OFM Conv. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Church. Burial will be private at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
