Joseph C. Greene Jr.

Joseph C. Greene, Jr. age 78 died Thursday November 29, 2018 at the Mercy Medical Center in Janesville. He was born September 7, 1940 to the late Joseph and Ethel (Butler) Greene in Beloit, WI. Joe was a graduate of Beloit Catholic High School, class of 1958.  He completed his studies at UW Whitewater, earning a degree in  1990. Joe enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1959 and served his Country until his honorable discharge in 1962. He married Nancy Ann Bue in St. Jude Catholic Church on December 2, 1961. She preceded him in death on August 25, 2009. Joe was a past member of OLA Church. He worked at Kades Motor Parts, Abaris and as an auctioneer for many years. Joe also was employed as a social worker at Rockford Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed traveling, fishing in Canada and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his five children, Steven (Linda) Greene of Madison, Jon (Crystal) Greene of Nichols, SC; Kathren (Dean) Sukus of Janesville and Jennifer Greene of Beloit  and Sara Ahrens of Roscoe, IL; nine grandchildren, Joseph Tyler Greene, Andrew Greene, Jonah Greene, Emily Ahrens, Allison Sukus, Brendan Sukus, TJ Greene, Crystian Greene and Michael Ahrens; two brothers, Michael (Cheryl) Greene and Thomas (Beverly) Greene; his in laws, Karen Greene of Stillwater, MN, Robert (Lynda) Bue, William Bue, Geoff (Diana) Bue and Christopher (Dawn) Bue all of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews and special relatives and friends.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right

He was preceded in death by his  parents, his wife, Nancy, his brother, Charles Greene and his in laws Lester & Rose Bue.

Joe's life will be Celebrated with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church,  2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI with Father Michael Resop officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Thabor Cemetery, Beloit, WI.   The family will greet family and friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Brian Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit and again on Friday in the Church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. A memorial is being established in his name.
