Joyce Monroe Obituary

Joyce I. Monroe age 86 died Tuesday July 3, 2018 in her home. She was born June 21, 1932 to the late Fred and Myrtle (Heasely) Griep in the Town of York, Clark Co. WI. Joyce graduated from Beloit High School, class of 1950 and completed her education at Blackhawk Tech. She married Gerald C. Monroe on May 16, 1953 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beloit. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2015. Joyce was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served as a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher. She was also a member of the Kiwanis Club serving on the board and several committees.  Joyce loved traveling in the USA and to foreign countries and spending the winters in Queen Creek, AZ until 2010. She will be remembered as a proficient card player and a Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan.

She is survived by her three children, Kathleen (Bruce) Mielke, Michael (Vicki) Monroe and Patricia (Kevin) Divine, six grandchildren, Kevin Kruse, Adam Divine, Josh (Krystal) Kreyer, Luke (Stacey) Kreyer, Courtney (Daniel) Monroe-Gregg and Alyssa (Mike) Senz, two step grandchildren, Katie (Andy) Saunders and Erica Mielke, two foster children, Lynor (Jeff) Jones and Dawn Olsen; 17 great grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Teagan, Tayton, Brendyn, Raven, Kelsey, Kendall, Olivia, Aiden, Maddyn, Tyler, Piper, Maverick, Leighton, Huxley and Kai, a sister in law, Rosie (Tom) Goldsworthy and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Kevin Divine Jr., three brothers, Orville, Dale & Elmer and two sisters, Lorraine & Doreen.

The family would like to thank Beloit Regional Hospice, Beloit Memorial Hospital nurses, Molly & Brad and Rev. Dennis Roser for the care and compassion they gave our mother.

Joyce’s Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at ST. JOHN’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1000 Bluff Street, Beloit with Rev. Dennis M. Roser officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday in the Church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private. Memorials may be directed to Beloit Regional Hospice or St. John’s Lutheran Church. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Monroe family on our website.
