Joyce Alvaree Rains age 76 of Beloit, Wisconsin passed Tuesday July 10, 2018 in her home. She was born February 27, 1942 to the late Jefferson Clayton and Iver Bell (Cribbs) Davis in Savannah, GA. Joyce graduated from Savannah High School, class of 1960. She was married to James Burton Rains and worked as a purchasing agent for General Electric for 15 years and retired. She then went to work for Hear USA for twelve years until her final retirement. She enjoyed bowling and crocheting. Joyce will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and Aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family. The love of Jesus shined through her sweet smile and contagious laugh. Through the joys and struggles of her life, she never wavered in her faith or in the courageous person that she was.
She is survived by her three children, Lisa Rains Crawford, Cindy (Bob) Johnston and Clay Rains; six grandchildren, Mandy Rains, Jessica Rains, Jefferson Rains, Joshua Rains, Joseph Rains and Savanna Johnston and her one great grandchild, Brett Smith. She is also survived by her siblings, Lea (Frank) Lamberti, Homer (Susie) Davis, Alvin (Janice) Davis and Fred (Diane) Davis and many beautiful nieces and nephews, who loved their Aunt Joyce. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend Rosanne Chiellino. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family would like to thank SMS Hospice and Health @ Home for the care they gave Joyce.
A Funeral to Celebrate and Honor Joyce's Life will take place on July 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery, 1336 Dean Forest Road in Savannah, GA. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer Society or American Cancer society would be appreciated. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Rains family on our website.
