Shirley Thoreson Obituary

Shirley Ann Thoreson age 79, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born February 18, 1940 to the late Arthur and Agnes (Clossey) Champlin in Beloit. Shirley graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1958. She married Matthew L. Thoreson on October 7, 1961 in Beloit. Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church and the Red Hat Society. She volunteered at Beloit Memorial Hospital, Caritas and the Salvation Army. Shirley was a wonderful homemaker and thoughtful caregiver to all in need. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Shirley will be remembered for her generous spirit and contagious laugh.

She is survived by her husband, Matthew Thoreson; her daughter; Robin Thoreson; her granddaughter, Julia Prouse and many friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Champlin.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Regional Hospice, the Special Care Unit and the CICU of Beloit Memorial Hospital for the care they gave Shirley.

Shirley's Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Rev. Gene Van Galder officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday in the Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
