It is with great sorrow we announce that we lost a sister, mother, and grandmother. Alma S. Castillo passed away Friday, March 29, 2024.
She was born May 27, 1954 in San Benito and raised in Brownsville, TX. As a young girl, Alma was a great student. Before and after school she would spend her time helping her mother, Sara Alma Segura, by prepping and cooking fish at their family seafood market.
After her mother passed away (in 1972) Alma, along with her siblings, decided to relocate to Chicago, IL in search of a better life. There she worked various jobs, one being at Fort Dearbourne Printing Company. She worked there for 15 years until her early retirement due to health conditions. Alma then spent her days as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Her favorite hobbies were playing bingo, doing puzzles, and arts and crafts.
Alma is survived by her four siblings Marta, Jaime (Candy), Rolando, and Roberto; her four children Delia, Onelia (Victor), Zara (Luis), and Cesar (McKae); her 14 grandchildren Luz, Lu-Kus, DeAunte, Marselena, Brandon, Ariel, Britney, Jasmine, Esme, Lizzy, Evelyn, Anthony, Gabriella, and Carter; and three great-grandsons Jayden Jr., Aiden, and Ethan. Along with many other relatives and dear friends.
A Celebration of Alma’s Life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 beginning at 5:00 p.m. and concluding at 10:00 p.m. The location is at 205 W. Grand Ave. Beloit, WI 53511.
