Barbara J. Hughes, age 86, of Beloit, Wisconsin, died on Monday, August 26, 2024, in her son’s home in Appleton, WI. She was born November 26, 1937 to Walter and Evelyn (Zeschke) Forbes Sr. in Chicago, IL. Barb graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1955. She married Billy Joe “BJ” Hughes on September 28, 1956 in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beloit. She was employed by Besly Products, Black & Deker and WI Knife Works until her retirement in January of 2006. Barb enjoyed bowling, fishing, and ceramics.
Survivors include her sons, Brian (Joyce) Hughes of Beloit, WI and Brennan (Debby) Hughes of Appleton, WI; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Stephanie, Dylan, Shelby, Lynette, Crystal, Cory, Malisa and Allison; nine great grandchildren, Miguel, Margarita, Martin, Parker, Emery, Nevaeh, Noah, Kylie, and Mason; nieces, nephews, cousins, her many friends and extended family in Bridgeport Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Evelyn, her husband, Billy Joe, her two brothers, Walter & Russell, her sister Katherine and her grandson, Benjamin Hughes.
We would like special recognition for her care providers through this journey: Brittany Wright, Crystal Bayer, Nevaeh Roug and the Hospice service providers of Thedacare in Appleton WI.
Barb’s Funeral Service will be 12:00 p.m. on August 31, 2024 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI with Pastor David Meding of Central Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Devotion in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Friends will be received on August 31 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
