Betty Werhane Obituary

Betty J. Werhane, age 95, died Monday December 2, 2024 in her home in Clinton, WI surrounded by her children. She was born November 21, 1929 to the late Julius and Elsa (Hauth) Rosenow in Northbrook, IL. She attended Northbrook High School. Betty married Harry “Bud” W. Werhane Jr. on May 30, 1951 in Northbrook. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2015. As a young woman, Betty was a secretary to the VP of a spice company in Chicago, IL. Betty and Bud then settled in Clinton, WI in 1957 where they managed and grew their dairy and grain farm until their retirement. Betty was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. She was a terrific homemaker, farm wife and worked at K-mart for several years after retiring from farming. She will be remembered for her beautiful quilts, her love for crafts, and always wanting to go on trips and out to lunch.

She is survived by her three children, Barb (Louis) Shull of Clinton; William (Lisa) Werhane of Clinton and Patti (John) Maple of Columbia, TN; four grandchildren, Timothy (Kassie) Shull, Thomas (Barbara) Shull, Alex (Sasha) Werhane & Emily Werhane; nine great grandchildren, Noah, Haley, Madison, Cheyenne, Arabella, Joseph, Olivia, Jameson & Teddy; and her brother in law John Werhane.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, and her brother Delbert.

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for the care they gave Betty.

Betty’s Private Family Funeral Service will be held at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 312 Church Street, Clinton. A Private Family burial will take place at Mt. Phillip Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
