Carol Gilbertson Obituary

Carol M. Gilbertson 93, of South Beloit, IL, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born July 26, 1931 to the late Albert and Sarah (Bastian) Bartels in Shirland, IL. Carol married Harold E. Gilbertson on November 5, 1955 in St. John Lutheran Church in Beloit. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1990. Carol graduated the 8th grade at Rock County Schools in Shopiere. Then proudly went on to receive her GED for high school courses. Carol worked at various local businesses in her career such as Beloit Corporation, Freeman Shoe, Sears, Sunkist Dry Cleaner, and the fabric store. Carol was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Rockton, IL. Carol enjoyed listening and dancing to the Meisner polka bands throughout the years. She also enjoyed playing card games including Euchre and was a member of the local Red Hat Society and enjoyed many outings with her group.

She is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Robert) Glowinski and Donna (James Halsey) Gilbertson; her grandchildren, Aaron (Alexandria) Glowinski, Karli Gilbertson, Sable (Alicia) Gilbertson-Leeper; her great-grandchildren, Nalani and Nema Soto.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Debra, her son, Dale, four brothers & one sister.

 

The family wishes to thank the Beloit Palliative Care Staff, Beloit Hospital ER staff, Fair Oaks Rehabilitation Center, Beloit Hospital ER staff and the staff in the intermediate care for all the compassion and care they gave to Mom and our family during this time.

Carol’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday September 9, 2024 in ST. ANDREW LUTHERAN CHURCH 511 W. Rockton Road, Rockton, IL with Rev. Don Stein officiating. Friends will be received on Monday at Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial is being established in her name. Burial to follow the service in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
