David Stacy Dickerson age 72 of Beloit died Saturday December 4, 2021 in his home. David was born in California and moved to Oklahoma; a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. He was gifted in manufacturing and made parts for military prototypes and space shuttles. He was proud to have machined in titanium the fuel system for the Blackbird, a long range high altitude plane which remains the fastest plane ever.
David's quest for adventure was fulfilled by his motorcycles. He loved restoring, repairing, racing and riding motorcycles, with a legendary series of injuries and dramas. His risk taking amusements included bungee jumping into his 70s.
He was a quiet, kindhearted person who will be remembered by his passion for his dogs. He is predeceased by Jack, Gilligan and Dakota, all Border Collies smarter than most people.
David's children were Erin and Godfrey, and he shared life with wives Mary Jo Cooper followed by Kathryn Brown. His sisters Gay Dickerson and Pam Dickerson taught him to ski, which added to his zest for life. His quick sense of humor was enjoyed by many. His quiet times included petting dogs, watching birds, listening to music (Grateful Dead head), and working in his shop. Musical theater became an interest with "Cats" his favorite, David was an authentic person who was truly himself. He reminded us "It's all about love."
A celebration of his life will be held at David and Kathryn's home on Sunday, December 12th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with his ashes being spread at 2:00 p.m. Contributions are requested for Midwest Border Collie Rescue, P.O. Box 171, Beloit, WI 53511 or Unity of Rockford's Spiritual Center, 4381 Manchester Road, Rockford, IL 61109.
