David L Vander Kooi Obituary

David L. Vander Kooi of Clinton, WI. Passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones. 


He was born March 2, 1952, in Beloit, WI; the son of the late Wilmer and Lorna Vander Kooi.  He served in the army during Vietnam. Upon returning home, he chose semi-truck driving as his career. He drove for various companies and eventually settled in at WW trucking where he retired after over 20 years. He made many great friends with his coworkers and really enjoyed working with them all. 


David married Colleen (McCawley) on June 9, 1971, and was married for over 40 years until she passed away on January 25, 2017. 


David loved his cats. He took in many strays and called them his buddies. Although, he found it hilarious to shoot at them with a nerf gun. He was an avid Packers, Brewers, and Badger fan. He was proud of his service in the Military. He will be deeply missed by many. 


Survivors his sons, Michael (Kari Crosby) and Matthew (Melissa Edwards) Vander Kooi;  grandchildren Justin, Sarah (Eian O’ Connor), David, and Olivia Vander Kooi; sisters Janet, Karen (Bob) Lowery, Pamela (Darrell) Green, Doris, Betsy (Daryl) Foley; brothers Loren (Sharon) Vander Kooi, Larry (Jeanie) Vander Kooi, Terry (Sarah) Vander Kooi; Aunt Silvia Ronburg, and many nieces and nephews. 


He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Colleen Vander Kooi, brother and sister-in-law William and Martha Vander Kooi; brothers Charles and Dennis; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Art Bastman; brother-in-law Darrell Green.  


A Memorial gathering will be held from 5-7 pm. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in the Brian Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI 53511. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
