David J. Watts Obituary

David James Watts lived a life that spoke louder in action than in words — a life filled with service, quiet strength, faith, and deep love for his family and friends. On April 24, 2025, at the age of 69, David completed his journey here on Earth, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

Born on January 16, 1956, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to James and Dorthy (Berklaw) Watts, David grew up learning the values of hard work, faith, and loyalty — lessons he would carry with him throughout his life. After graduating from Milton High School, he chose a path of service and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his ten years of military service, he became an Armorer, a Jet Mechanic, and trained on CH-53 helicopters — roles that suited his steady hands and even steadier heart. His time in the Marines shaped him in ways that remained with him forever, and he proudly stayed connected to that brotherhood through the Marine Corps League for more than 20 years.

When David transitioned back to civilian life, he continued to serve — not with a uniform, but with a toolbox, a strong work ethic, and a heart full of kindness. Many in his community knew him simply as "Dependable Dave," a man whose craftsmanship and character were one and the same. He wasn’t just a handyman — he was a helping hand, a neighbor you could count on, and a living example of Christian values in action.

At his core, David was a family man. His proudest role was being a father to his two children, Jennifer and Daniel. He taught them by example — showing them that true strength is gentle, that faith is a daily practice, and that loyalty is a quiet but powerful force. He was their steady rock, their biggest supporter, and the voice of reason and comfort through life’s ups and downs.

David also had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy and peace hiking through trails, camping under open skies, and exploring the beauty of the world around him. Whether traveling to new places or simply sitting by a campfire, he cherished every moment life offered.

Those who knew David will remember a man who didn’t seek the spotlight but shone brightly in the lives he touched. He built a life rooted in faith, hard work, family, and friendship — a life that made a difference.

Today, we don’t just mourn his passing — we celebrate the life he lived so well and the lasting impact he leaves behind.

He will be missed dearly, but his spirit — his quiet, steady, faithful spirit — will live on in all of us.
