Donald Kilbey Obituary

Donald L. Kilbey, age 86 of Beloit passed away peacefully listening to Frank Sinatra music in his home on Saturday December 14, 2019. He was born June 22, 1933 to the late Arthur and Mae Grace (Stauffacher) Kilbey in Beloit. Don attended Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1952. He married Mary Therese Spohn on December 31, 1955 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2015. Don volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army and completed his obligation after serving many months in Korea. He worked for GM for 36 years, retiring in 1993. Don was member of UAW Local 95 and the Pacesetters Cycle Club. His passions were BMW motorcycles and playing pool. He rode whenever he could, for over 50 years and well into his 80's! From his many trips, including those all over the United States, he logged a few more miles then a trip to the moon & back. Don was a great pool shot, played in a few area leagues and taught all his children to play. He was also an avid reader, varying from mythology to theology to his last favorites which were westerns. Don visited the library every week which was such a pleasure for him. His smile, kindness and generosity will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his two daughters, Coleen (Dana) Fillbach of IN and Lisa (Kevin) Cain of Roscoe; his son in law, Jeff Zank; his seven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and friends.

He was preceded in death his son Jeffrey Michael Kilbey, his wife, Mary Therese Kilbey and his daughter, Julie Therese Zank.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Suites of Beloit  and Beloit Regional Hospice for the care they gave Don.
