Duane "Jake" Jacobson

Duane "Jake" Jacobson age 76 of Elkhorn died Saturday July 23, 2022 in his home. He was born November 2, 1945 to Clarence and Mable (Hackerson) Jacobson in Morris, IL. Jake graduated from Elkhorn High School, class of 1963. He married Vernitta "Nita" Jensen on September 23, 1993 in Woodstock, IL. Jake worked at GM in Janesville for 38 years retiring in 2003. He also owned and operated Jake's Excavating for nearly a decade. Jake loved cars. He loved to buy them, work on them, repair them, drive them and then sooner or later sell them. Jake loved a good "car" conversation and discussing the history of the automobile industry. He will be remembered for spending time in his workshop  "barn" with his large collection of vintage vehicles.

He is survived by his wife, Vernitta "Nita" Jacobson of Elroy, WI; his two step children, Marty Knapp & Tammy Knapp; one grand daughter, Heather Rouque; one great grandson, Hayden Rouque; a brother, Carlin (Janice) Jacobson; two sisters, Beverly Shepherd & Jackie (Earl) Sheldon; his good friend, John Sather and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Duane's Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday July 28, 2022 in the Elroy City Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Picha Funeral Home 1600 Academy Street, Elroy on Thursday from 12 Noon until 12:45 p.m. A memorial is being established in his name.
