Eugene P. Johnson age 79 of Clinton died Tuesday January 21, 2025 in his home. He was born June 5, 1945 to Phillip and Doris (Olson) Johnson in Beloit, WI. After graduating from North Boone High School in 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1967.

In his youth he was active in 4H and enjoyed showing his cows at the Boone County Fair. Later he was a judge and superintendent for the Dairy show at the fair. He rarely missed a year of going to the fair, in later years enjoyed seeing his grandchildren show animals. Eugene farmed south of Clinton for many years.

He married Jacklyn Giesecke in 1990. They had many different horses and mules; they enjoyed driving his teams for rides and in parades. He worked in his later years at Durst Corp. in Shopiere. In his retirement, he enjoyed his trips to breakfast at Sun Down or dinner at Cougar Lanes with his friends, Denny Jeffers and Bill Hall. He could be found, often, enjoying a Pepsi or an ice cream treat. He loved to go to Culver’s and always saved room for a Turtle Sundae.

Eugene is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Jay) Beaumont, Marcy (Jay) Rainey and Michelle (Brandon) Knutson. He was the best Papa to his eight grandchildren, Austin (Natalee), Kelsey (Braden), Gracey, Audrey, Kolton, Kinlee, and Kaden. He is also survived by his sister Illa (Robert) Borgwardt of Beloit and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie, and parents, Phil and Doris.

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the Staff at Willowick Assisted Living and Mercy Health Hospice for the loving care they gave Eugene. 

Eugene’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 25, 2025 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday in the Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Manchester.
