Eugene Arthur Lingen, 71, of Clinton, died July 21, 2023, at Beloit Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born August 10, 1951, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, WI to Harvey and Lillian (Gindt) Lingen. Gene was the oldest of 12 children and grew up on a small dairy farm north of Stanley. He attended Otter Creek Country School until the 4th grade, then Stanley-Boyd Area Schools and graduated in 1969. Gene started working at Ike International right out of High School. He married Mary Wildenberg and was later divorced. After moving to Clinton, WI in 1979, he worked at Taylor Freezer until his retirement in 2016. Gene married Debbie DeLong on September 3, 1994.
Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed auctions and rummage/thrift sales. He was a friendly guy who could talk to anyone and always had a story to tell.
Gene is survived by his wife, Deborah, his five children, Amy (Brad) Decker, Kelly (John) North. Kimberly (Neil) Garey, Jason (Erica) Lingen and Emily Lingen; Brothers and Sisters, Shirley (Jim) Brown, Lois Lingen, Julie Lingen, Sharon Feuerstein, Laurie (Chuck) Ziel, Dean (Julie) Lingen, Roger (Anna) Lingen, Tim (Sue) Lingen, Jerry (Rita) Lingen, Denny (Jenny) Lingen and Dave (Lisa) Lingen; Brother-in-law, Robert (Sharon) DeLong and David (Marcia) DeLong; sister-in-law, Pam Rochester, 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, grandson, Bryce Lingen, brother-in-law Patrick Feuerstein, Daniel DeLong, Eugene Hahn and nephews Kristopher Brown and Greg Brown.
Gene’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 716 Sur-Lar Lane, Clinton, with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Church, and again at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Burial will follow at the service at Mt. Philip Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to programs mentoring youth to enjoy the outdoors.
