George Ferger, age 94 of Clinton, WI died on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Willowick Assisted Living. He was born July 4, 1930 to John and Odessa (McMillan) Ferger in Highland, WI. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, Class of 1948. George proudly served his country in the US Army, having done a tour in Korea, for which he received a Purple Heart. George married Doris Wendorf on March 22, 1952, and they remained married until her passing in 2020.
George worked at Scot Forge for more than 25 years, where he was a foreman, who took care of the maintenance and boiler systems, until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, spending time at the American Legion, where he was an active member, as well as the Wheel Ski & Sports Club. George was quoted as saying, “There’s never an age where you’re too old to ski” in the newspaper. He enjoyed ski-jumping, and during his High School years, won many awards across multiple states and countries for the sport.
George enjoyed the mountains, having gone as far as Switzerland to see them. He was a member of Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church, with his wife, Doris, where he was President of the church and served on their board. George was a proud Boy Scout leader for many years- starting before he had children, and continuing while his sons were in Boy Scouts.
George is survived by his son Dennis (Lynne) Ferger; his grandchildren Eric Ulrich, Matthew (Brooke) Ferger, Nathan (Jacqueline) Ferger, and Emily (Jared) Olson; his great-grandchildren, Masyn, Carter, Felix, Jax, Grayson, Jayden, and Juliette; his brother John Ferger; his sister-in-law Beverly Winarski, son-in-law Rock Ulrich, and many other beloved nieces, nephews, family, friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, his son Tracy Ferger, his daughter Deb Ulrich, and his brothers Buck and Jim Ferger.

George’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in JEFFERSON PRAIRIE LUTHERN CHURCH, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, IL with Rev. Linda Winkelman officiating. Family & friends will be received in the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Jefferson Prairie Cemetery, with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
