Gerald Murray, age 86 of Beloit died on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Alden Meadow Park in Clinton. He was born September 13, 1937 to G. Lyndon and Flossie (Oldenburg) Murray. Gerald graduated from Beloit High School, class of 1955. Gerald served our country in the US Army and National Guard for 9 years, having achieved the rank of Sergeant upon Honorable Discharge. He went on to Blackhawk Technical College where he received his Associates Degree in Engineering. Gerald was a member of the Moose Club in Rockford.
Gerald married Shirley McClaren on October 18, 1958, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were married for nearly 66 years and Gerald took great pride in providing for his wife and family. He worked as a Chief Tool Engineer with Sunstrand and a Product Design & Manager Engineer with Suntec for 42 years until his retirement in 1999. Growing up as an only child, Gerald treasured the time spent with his family.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Douglas (Janet) Murray and Daren Murray; daughter, Dena Murray; his grandchildren, Katherine (Thomas) Alshouse and Peter (Katharine) Murray, a great granddaughter, Madelyn Rose, his cousin, Sandy (Roger) Roraft, and many other beloved family, friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gerald’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Pastor David Meding officiating. Family & friends will be received in the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
