Gunther A. Neumann, age 83 of Beloit, WI passed away March 2nd, 2025, at St Elizabeth Nursing Home, Janesville, WI. The son of Arthur Alex and Lina (Marx) Neumann. Gunther was born August 31, 1941, in Stettin-Poelitz, Pommerania, Germany.
Gunther attended schools in Beloit, WI from the time his family left Denmark, where they lived in a holding area (for a few years), until they got the sponsorship they needed to come to the United States. After graduation from Beloit Memorial High School, he joined the Air Force and shortly thereafter met and married the Love of his Life Judy M. Bailey. They shared 58 ½ years of life together. They have four children, Lauri Lee Neumann Whitehorn, John Gunther Neumann, Cynthia Bernice (Gerry) Joseph and Steven Arthur Neumann. Gunther started working as a young boy helping his father build a 3-story brick apartment house which they lived in. He worked at grocery stores like Fox’s and Zinky’s. After the Air Force he started working for Barber Coleman and eventually Chrysler, where he retired after 30 years. He enjoyed working part time for K-Mart, Cub Foods and as a crossing guard for the Beloit School District. Gunther loved his Church and held many positions over the years. He really enjoyed Church Dart Ball and in earlier years, bowling. Traveling to Alaska on a cruise and a trip to Aruba were also fun times in his life.
He is survived by his wife, four children, sister-in-law Carol Bailey and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard & Pat Bailey. Gunther had many nieces and nephews including Jim & (Chris) Kauppinen, Malia Mohan, Bruce Bailey, Lisa Bolser, Mike, Bill & (Jane), Tim, David, Sean & Jeremy Bailey, Tracey, Scott Bailey, Kristy Hanaman, Shayna Foley, Sara, Ryan Bailey. He had 3 Granddaughters, Lisa Marie Neumann, Lindsey Megan (Rolando Casique) & Carissa Elizabeth Hill, 2 Grandsons, Kyle John Neumann & Caleb Naasir Hill. Finally, but not least, blessed with 5 Great Grandchildren, Dayshaun, Jordan, Julianna, Alexia & Yamilette.
He is predeceased by his sister Ursula (Richard Kauppinen) & later (Burton Zipperer), Vernon & Phyllis Bailey, Retha Bailey, Eldon Bailey, Ken & Barbara Bailey.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Common Heart Hospice for all the care and comfort they provided to Gunther and the family during this time.
Gunther’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday March 11, 2025, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1850 Cranston Road, Beloit with Pastor Randall Senn officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday in the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full Military Burial Rites will follow Gunther’s service in the Church parking lot.
