Jack Freeman Obituary

Jack Freeman, age 87 of Beloit, died Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in his home. He was born on September 9, 1936 in Beloit, to Kenneth and Mary (Lentine) Freeman. Jack was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1955. Jack went to Bradley University, where he played baseball in 1955 & 1956. He went on to sign on with the Milwaukee Braves. While in spring training, he married Joan Polaski on June 29, 1957 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Beloit. Jack was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. With his love for baseball, he spent 13 years coaching for the Beloit Little League.

Jack was a life-long master carpenter, who worked for Glen Webermeier, Hans Fleishner, Ron Davidson, and the Janesville School District until his retirement in 2022. He built his own home, as well as, helping his 5 children with their homes. Jack was an avid outdoorsman his entire life. He enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, pheasants, and rabbits- with his beloved beagles (especially Jo Ellen.) 

He is survived by his five children, John (Mary) Freeman, Catherine (Matt) Simpson, James Freeman, Joseph Freeman, Christopher Freeman; grandchildren, Kyle (Lindsey) Freeman, Megan Freeman (Milan), Zach (Megan) Simpson, Christa (Jared) Story, Sarah (Justin) Brown, Jill Freeman, Chase Freeman  Bryan Freeman (Morgan Kersten), & Anna (Anthony) Peich; great-grandchildren Haley, Aubrey, Nora, Riley, Charlotte, Theo, Genevieve, Hazel, & Maxwell;  and many family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Joan, and his sister Patricia.

The family would like to thank Cathy for her devoted care, compassion, and dedication to being Dad’s caregiver.

Jack’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 29, 2023 at ST. THOMAS the APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 822 East Grand Avenue, Beloit with Fr. Jim Murphy officiating. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial at Newark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Janesville School District Outdoor Lab. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
