James "Clay" Clayton Rains

James Clayton Franklin Rains (Clay) of Beloit, WI passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2023, at his home. Clay was born on April 20, 1970, to James and Joyce (Davis) Rains in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1998, Clay moved to Clinton and later lived in Beloit, WI. He had a huge heart and loved helping others. Clay had a passion for fishing and being on the open water. He would fish with his Granddaddy as a young child and many friends throughout his life. Clay recently developed a love for riding horses and taking care of them.
He is survived by his four children Jessica Rains, Jefferson Rains, Joshua Rains, and Joseph Rains; his grandson Koda Rains; his sisters Lisa Crawford and Cindy (Bob) Johnston; his two beautiful nieces Mandy Rains and Savanna Johnston; his great nephew Brett Smith and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Clay was preceded in death by his parents.  

We would also like to thank our longtime friend Eric Johnston for being by Clay's side and being like a brother to him.

Services will be held at a later date. Memorial may be directed to the Brian Mark Funeral Home, to help Clay’s family with expenses. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
