James “Jim” Cone age 82 of Beloit died October 9th, 2024 in his home. He was born October 18, 1941 to Floyd and Gertrude (Bollwahn) Cone of Janesville, WI. Jim attended Janesville High School, class of 1959 and lettered in football & baseball. He loved to cook and entertain; Jim managed a restaurant in Florida for many years and also worked as the exclusive Chef. He was a witty story teller, especially around the campfire. Jim enjoyed dancing, playing cards & family gatherings. He excelled in tennis, racquetball & chess. Jim will be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor, his independence and stubborn strength. He was a loving father and grandfather, and a friend to many. 

He is survived by his children, Doug Cone, Deb Cone and Steve Cone; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren & his brother, Sam Gorton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barb, his son, Daniel, his  five siblings and his three favorite dogs.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Regional Hospice for the care they gave Jim.

Jim’s Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 19, 2024 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating.  Family and friends will be received on Saturday in the Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private. Luncheon and fellowship will follow Jim’s service in our banquet hall. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
