James “Jim” Wm. Kohl age 79 of Beloit died Wednesday April 30, 2025 with his sisters Mary Sue and Pam by his side. He was born December 27, 1945 to Kenneth A. and Mary (Brady) Kohl in Harvard, IL. Jim was affectionately known by “Otis” or “Freckles” by those who knew him the best. He attended Beloit High School. After High School he went right to work doing multiple jobs, including farming as he went along. Jim was the manager of the ShopKo Strip Mall in Beloit, along with driving a school bus for the Beloit School District. While driving the school bus Jim enjoyed driving children on field trips and activities. Jim also worked for many years for Libby McNeal and Libby. Jim was a country boy with a big heart. He loved wearing his bib overalls, viewing John Deere tractors and reading many agricultural or tractor magazines and newspapers. Jim spent a lot of time listening to the music of local artist Dan Riley in Edgerton. He enjoyed Wisconsin sports especially his Green Bay Packers. Over the years Jim was a whiz at checkers and enjoyed traveling to Tobacco Days or the Thresheree. Jim played Santa Clause to many children over the years throughout the community.

James is survived by his sisters; Mary Sue Kohl, and Pamala (Brian) Wellnitz. his son, Kenneth Owen Kohl and family. Nieces and Nephews; Ryan (Pam), Theresa, Kathleen (Nick), Wendy (Dan). Great Nieces and Nephews; Monica (Jeremy), Rya, and Jayda. Great-Great Nieces and Nephews; Scarlett, Savannah, Dean, Maddie, and Kenneth G.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Tom Kohl

The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Beloit Regional Hospice, especially his favorite, very compassionate hospice nurse Stephanie along with Autumn Lakes Rehabilitation Center for all the care they gave to Jim, and to Brian Mark for taking Jim home one more time.

Jim’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 10, 2025, in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday in the Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Fellowship will follow service. Interment will follow at Newark Cemetery.
