Jane Clark Obituary

Jane Clark, age 88, of Clinton/Delavan died in her home on Friday, February 9, 2024, with her loving husband by her side. She was born November 2, 1935 in Janesville, WI, to Robert and Mary (Diderich) Peckham.  Jane grew up on a farm outside of South Beloit with her Parents and Grandparents. She graduated from South Beloit High School, Class of 1953, the Salutatorian of her class.  She received a full-ride scholarship to attend Beloit College which she attended for one year. Jane then paused her education to marry the love of her life, Robert Clark, at the Old Stone Church in Rockton, IL on October 16, 1954. Once her children were all in school she attended UW-Whitewater and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, later also earning her Master’s Degree. She was a life-long educator, teaching more than 800 children how to read in 1st and 2nd grade at Darien Elementary School. She retired in 1998, after 30 years of dedication and leadership.

In Jane’s early years, she was a member of Rainbows Girls and Junior Women’s Club. She also belonged to the Beloit Saddle Club, where she enjoyed horseback riding, and met her future husband. Jane was known for her love and dedication to her family- they were everything to her. They went on camping trips throughout the state of Wisconsin when her children were growing up. She loved holiday celebrations in her home, Christmas being her favorite. Jane cherished her beautifully decorated tree that held ornaments she collected from her students over the course of her career. She could recall each student who gave her the ornament and a special story to go along with each one. Jane kept a beautiful garden outside of her home and enjoyed the outdoors. Jane and Bob lived most of their married life in Clinton, moving to Delavan December 2022.

Jane is survived by her husband, Robert; children: Michael Clark and William (Pamela) Clark; grandchildren: Daniel (Turi) Clark, Jonathan (Sarah Heyer) Clark, Timothy (Sophia Musacchio) Clark, Nathan Clark, Kaitlynn Clark, and Micaela (Nick) Ross; great-grandchildren: Zavier, Natalie, and Irene.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Peckham; sister, Ruth Gustafson; son, James Clark; and brothers-in-law: Thomas Clark and Everett Gustafson; and sisters-in-law: Phyllis Peckham and Maurine Clark.

The family would like to thank the staff at Agrace Hospice, for their dedication and care they gave to Jane.
