John D. Hahn Obituary

John David Hahn age 86, of Clinton, passed away Sunday April 28, 2024 at Beloit Senior Living in Beloit, WI. He was born February 2, 1938 to Wallace Charles and Clara Isabelle (Jacobson) Hahn in Beloit, WI. John married Karen Margaret Tischendorf on September 3, 1960 at Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2011. He graduated from Clinton High School, class of 1955 and also studied in the Short Course AG Program at the University of Wisconsin. John was entered into the U.S. Army and National Guard, where he served his country until his honorable discharge. John was an active member of the Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church, where he served as the President of the Council, sat on the Church Cemetery Board and Maintenance Committee. He also served on the Town of Clinton Fire Board for 40 years and Clinton Township Zoning Board. He was employed at Hahn & Mills Builders as a contractor. John enjoyed traveling with his wife, with special memories of Alaska, Seattle, and Nova Scotia. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the American Legion. He enjoyed garage sales with his son, hunting, snowmobiling, and canoeing. He was proud of his family and all of the homes he built. He was always found in attendance at his grandchildren’s high school and college sports, as well as, music and dance events.

He is survived by his sons, Michael J. (Michelle) Hahn of Bettendorf, IA and Timothy P. (Sara) Hahn of Clinton; grandchildren, Olivia, Petra, Erik, Ava, Claire, Tess, Emma, and Thad; and great-grandchild Cecil. He is further survived by his sister, Jane Winkler of Chilton, sisters-in-law, Vi DeRemer of Janesville, Linda Wittmann of Apple Valley, MN, Susan (Fred) Finster of Elkhorn and Julie Lazzaroni of Darien, and many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and neighbors.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister Karen, and his son David Allen Hahn.

John’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 3, 2024 at JEFFERSON PRAIRIE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, IL with Pastor Kalen Barkholtz officiating.  Friends will be received on Friday at Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Following John’s service, the cortege will proceed to Jefferson Prairie East Cemetery for Full Military Burial Rites and burial. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
