John Ruthe, 65, of Rockford, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. 

He was born October 4, 1960, in Nebraska, the son of the late Robert and Joyce Ruthe. John married Patricia Renly on July 20, 1984. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2008. 

John worked for many years in the construction field. He was a member of the Local Carpenters Union 792. He enjoyed reading, playing video games, taking trips to casinos, creating mid-evil forgery bracelets, knives, and swords. He loved playing guitar and listening to music. He was a part of a Mid-Evil group that did Live Action Role Playing. Above all, John cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. John always puts others first and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. 

Survivors include his sons: William (Lisa) Ruthe; and Benjamin (Stephanie) Ruthe; grandchildren, Madisyn and Natalya Ruthe; siblings Robert (Dena) Ruthe, Dave Ruthe, and Joyda Ruthe; numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, and brother, Paul Ruthe. 

Funeral services for John will be held at 12pm on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in the Brian Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway. Visitation will be 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Luther Valley Cemetery.
