Joseph “Joe” McMillan, 54, of Beloit, passed away on April 8, 2026, in his home. He was born on June 22, 1971, to the late James and Trudy McMillan. Growing up he attended Sun Valley Presbyterian where he was confirmed. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1989. Joe married the love of his life, Janel Willner-Tannahill on November 4, 2023. Joe worked at Woodman's food market for 30 years, 20 of those managing the liquor store.
Joe was a Boy Scout, played tennis, and was in the orchestra in high school. He was an avid Washington Redskins (Not Commanders) fan. He loved going antiquing and looking for vintage Haeger pottery, ashtrays and anything Planet of The Apes. He loved to cook, gamble, take care of his yard, and feed the birds; he also enjoyed vacations in Mexico. Joe could play the guitar, and the violin; he loved music of any genre, especially Mozart. Joe loved attending various rock concerts over the years, but above all he was most proud of being a husband, father, and friend to many.
Survivors include his wife; Janel McMillan, his children; Emily (Jeremy) Curtis, Jakob McMillan, Payton Tannahill, and grandchild; his sister; Tricia McMillan, step-mother; Janet McMillan, in-laws; Jackie and John Gooch; and John Willner, sisters-in-law; Jodi Thurman, Josie (Adam) LaLiberty, Jeri Willner, Jessie (Kyle) Hassinger, brothers-in-law; Jeremy (Nora) Willner, Patrick (Amber) Willner, Lukas Willner, 8 nieces, 6 nephews, long-time friends; Pete and Shari Mentele; also many extended family and close friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, grandparents, and nephew, Corbin LaLiberty.
