Joyce A. Schauer

Joyce A. Schauer of Beloit passed away on Thursday January 23, 2025 at the age of 96. She was born May 20, 1928 in Elkhart, IN, the daughter of Alpha and Garnet (Vance) Jellison. Joyce graduated from Elkhart High School in 1946. She married Rico Montenero on August 21, 1948 in Elkhart and moved to Beloit, WI. Joyce later married James R. Schauer on February 19, 1980 in Beloit. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2020.

She is survived by her four children, Patrick (Barbara) Montenero of Waukesha, Daniel Montenero of Brown Deer, Lisa Mianecki of Beloit and Traci (Dave) Sass of Burlington, as well as eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Schauer, her four brothers, Jack, Don, Keith & Bob Jellison and her sister, Miriam (Gene) Hileman, and one granddaughter Jessica Montenero.

She was an active member of Krueger Women’s Golf Club for over 30 years also active in the intermediate Women’s Club. Joyce enjoyed golfing, gardening, sewing and her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Suites of Beloit for the care they gave Joyce.

There will be no public funeral per Joyce’s request. Any memorials can be made to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
