Kenneth D. Nelson age 78 died on Sunday January 7, 2024 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born September 2nd, 1945 to Edwin and Violet (Knutson) Nelson in Beloit, WI. Ken graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1963. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on November 13, 1965 and valiantly served his Country in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on July 17, 1967. Early on Ken owned and operated the Hitching Post in Beloit. He had a long and successful career with Ingersoll working as a machinist. Ken was a car guy, who enjoyed spending time in his garage and buying & selling various vehicles. His pride and joy was a Grey 47 Ford.

Ken is survived by his son, Douglas (Tracy) Hakes of Janesville, WI; his three grandchildren, Emily (Kyle) Ramquist, Farel Hakes & Samantha Hakes and his girlfriend, Sharron Curry.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Paul and his sister, Marilyn.

Ken’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 17, 2024 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday in the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
