Jesus called LT COL Thomas E. Baker, born on June 15, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York. He joins the love of his life and wife, Jane Piland Baker D.Min, cherished friends, and four precious grandchildren (Scott, Shane, Summer, and Scarlett) to join his beloved daughter Shannon Jane, for a joyous reunion in Heaven.
Tom’s career had a double focus, one civilian, and the other, military. While accomplishing full-time professor employment responsibilities and educational pursuits he remained active as a commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserve. Tom served several command and staff officer positions during this twenty-five-year career, including graduation from the Army Command and General Staff College, and promotion to Lieutenant Colonel. In addition, he served in the regular Army for three years as an acting Desk Sergeant, then he joined the
Reserve Component as a Special Agent/Warrant Officer with the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACIC). Furthermore, Tom served as captain, major, lieutenant colonel, and commander and staff officer with the Military Police Corps. In recent years, Tom completed his Doctorate in Christian Counseling {D.Min.} and was ordained as a Christian Chaplain. In addition, he published over a dozen books, including three Christian books. He served as a professor at the University of Scranton for 38 years. The University was a Catholic Jesuit educational institution.
A private service and interment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in place of flowers to:
