Laura Jensen

Laura Jensen, 89, of South Beloit, IL died on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at her home following a long illness. She was born January 17, 1934, to Lester and Tessie (Troxel) Carr in Beloit, WI. Laura attended Rockton and Stockton schools.  On April 22, 1962, she was married to Donald Jensen at the Old Stone Church in Rockton, Ill. Laura enjoyed a long career with Gateway Collection Agency where she worked as their office manager.  Laura was a member of the Beloit Businesswomen’s Association and the Moose Lodge.

Laura enjoyed many outdoor and social activities that included: camping, fishing, gardening, card games, puzzles and fighting over the daily crosswords with her husband. Laura enjoyed watching NASCAR races, playng bingo and bowling. 

She is survived by her children, Debra (Jim) Hosey, Bill (Jo Ann) Pohl, Sharon (Bobby) Burnett, Merri (Mark) Boos, and Elizabeth Carmen. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Michele Wood, James and Brian Hosey, Keith Pohl, Emily Larson, Cory Burnett, Jason and Nichole Nichols, Eric Carmen, Ashley Dougherty and Tonya and Scott Heath, twenty-three great grand-children and one great-great grandchild; in-laws, Larry (Pat) Jensen, along with special friend, Lisa Kafalenos.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, grandchildren, Brenda Hanson and Mark Wood, and great-grandchild, Emma Nichols.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Regional Hospice for the care they gave Laura with a special thanks to Chad, Julie and Mark.

Laura’s service will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday in the Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Private burial at Rockton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Beloit Regional Hospice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
