Leslie Shelbourn Obituary

Leslie Adelbert Shelbourn age 82 of Clinton went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 27, 2018. He died in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas where he and his wife, Marilyn spent their winters since 1994. Leslie was born to Adelbert and Adelia (Hobson) Shelbourn on April 19, 1936 near Valentine, Nebraska. His family lived in Todd County, South Dakota. Leslie attended grade school at Schmidt School and graduated from Crookston High School in Crookston, NE in 1954. He ranched and worked on the construction of the Littleburg and Lakeview Grade Schools. Leslie married Marilyn W. Schut on August 4, 1960. They lived in Todd County, SD until February of 1965 when they moved to Wisconsin. Leslie worked for Lockjoint and then for the Chrysler plant in Belvidere, IL when it first opened. In 1966, he started in the business of artificial insemination of dairy cattle and also sold DeKalb seed corn. He continued in his endeavors until 1991 when he retired and passed the business to his, Gale. He was active in the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Clinton, WI.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Shelbourn; his three children, Kenneth Shelbourn of Beloit, Arnetta (Rodrigo) Oropeza of McAllen, TX and Gale (Dawn) Shelbourn of Whitewater, WI; six grandchildren, Alisha Shelbourn, Cristina Cardenas, Cassandra Oropeza and Jessica, Julia and Jason Shelbourn and four great grandchildren, Larissa Scott and Rodrigo, Abigail, Juanito Cardenas. He is further survived by his sister, Virginia (Lloyd) Kuipers of Platte, SD and his brother, Robert (Sandee) Shelbourn of Norfolk, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dennis Shelbourn of Winner, SD and his sister, Delores Taylor of Brush, CO.

Leslie’s caring spirit will be greatly missed.

Leslie’s Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday July 7, 2018 at EMMANUEL COMMUNITY CHURCH 319 East Street, Clinton with Rev. Clyde Rensink and Rev. Bob Schut co-officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday in the Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial is being established in his name.
