Mark Senz Obituary

Mark S. Senz age 68 of Beloit died Tuesday October 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 5, 1955, to Gerald and Gertrude (Thom) Senz, in Beloit, WI. attended Brother Dutton Grade School and graduated Beloit Catholic High School in 1974. He married Kathy Semeyn on July 18, 1981, and they had two children, Dennis and Maggie. She preceded him in death in October of 1999.

Mark married Gloria (Stein) Marino on November 24, 2006. As a family they enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Wild Rose, and traveling to Siesta Key, Alaska & Europe.

He worked at Fairbanks after high school as an inspector until he entered the Insurance industry with Prudential. In 1980, after his father’s death, Mark assumed the responsibilities of Senz Insurance and never looked back. He diligently grew the business, through honesty, integrity, and hard work. Mark was a member of Southern WI Assoc of Life Insurance Underwriters and the Pekin Inner Circle.

Locally, Mark was known around Beloit for his faith, humor, and generosity. He enjoyed the “Round Table” with friends as they discussed the challenges of the week and upcoming sporting events.  As a lifelong Beloiter, he was a proud, invested member of the community. Mark worked on many civic causes and organizations, including, the Knights of Columbus, Boys’s and Girl’s Club, & Brother Dutton School Board.

He enjoyed family time, fishing trips with his buddies, mowing the lawn, noon workouts at the YMCA, putzing in the garage, watching golf tournaments on TV, and the Glen Erin Thursday night golf league. He loved the low-key life out of the spotlight with friends and family. Mark was good at giving his friends a hard time but never liked attention focused on him. You knew how much Mark loved you by how much bull he gave you. His smile, hugs and generosity will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria of Beloit; his son, Dennis (Holly) of Brodhead; his daughter, Maggie (Tristan) Wischer and his grandson, Henry of Mequon, WI; his brothers, Tom (Michelle) Senz of Beloit & Greg (Connie) Senz of Madison; and several brother & sister in laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Kathy and his infant sister, Barbara, Mother and Father-in-law, Robert and Norma Semeyn and brother-in-law David Semeyn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Terrace, Beloit Health System, Beloit Regional Hospice and UW Hospital for the care and compassion they gave Mark.
