Mary J. Madru age 76 of Beloit died Friday April 11, 2025, in her daughter’s home in South Beloit, IL. She was born April 7, 1949, to the late William and Lulubelle Gavin in Radisson, WI. Mary graduated from Winter High School, class of 1969. She moved to Beloit, WI where she met and married the love of her life, George Madru Sr., on November 8, 1969. George proceeded her in death on October 24, 2006. Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She took up raising honeybees with her husband where she became known as the “Honey Lady”.
She is survived by her son, George Jr. “Spud” (Wendy) Madru of Beloit, WI, her daughter, Mary Lou (Matt) Berg of South Beloit, IL, her sister, Marie (Hearts) Martin of Winter, WI, her brother, Dennis (Betty) Gavin of Great Falls, MT, her brother-in-law, Jeff (Cindy) Madru of Beloit, WI, her sister-in-law, Sharon (Donald) Drost of Beloit, WI, her five grandchildren; Justin, Kaylynn, Dakota, Seath (Brittany) and Whitney, and her great grandchildren; Noah, Nevaya, Nyeli, Neeloh, Matthias, Braelynn, Emerson and Deacon, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Danny, Urban, Roger, Jerry and Bill Gavin, her in-laws, John Madru and Jerry Lewin, and her sister-in-law, Diane Lewin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Regional Hospice for the care they gave Mary.
Mary’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday April 18, 2025, in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI with Chaplain Mark Maxted officiating. Friends and family will be received in the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday in the Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow in the Newark Cemetery. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
