Merlin L. Zittlow

Merlin Leon Zittlow, age 80, died Monday, September 25, 2023, in Beloit. He was born on August 9, 1943, in Medford, WI to Fred and Marie (Kautzer) Zittlow. He married his wife of more than 50 years, RaeMarie Pierson, on October 14, 1967, in Janesville.

Merlin served in the United States Air Force where he was an Environmental Specialist, spent time in Germany, and retired after more than 30 years of service. He was known for his love of the outdoors, where he enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and time at his lake house. He loved Harley-Davidson and Honda Gold Wing motorcycles, as well as a passion for cars especially late 60s and early 70s Dodge. 

He is survived by his children: Andreá (Bryan) Broyles, Wanden (Gail) Zittlow, and Chad (Maria) Zittlow, grandchildren: Liam, Thomas, and Sierra Broyles, Dustin (Keri) and Keagan Zittlow, Tyler, Colton, and Hunter Zittlow, great-grandchild: Candice Zittlow, as well as many other friends and family members.

Merlin was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Marie and his beloved wife Rae.

Merlin’s Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit.  Friends will be received on Saturday in the Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
