Phyllis J Dooley, age 95, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Beloit Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 1, 1928, in Wheaton, MN, to Reginald and Freida (nee. Bottcher) Saunders. She married Lavern “Mike” Dooley on October 24, 1947, in Janesville.
Phyllis was known best for being self-sufficient, fiercely independent, and hard-working. She was dedicated to helping those around her, especially in times of hardship, and without hesitation. She had a talent for the arts, including quilt making- of which she made many beautiful quilts throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and working in her yard. She was known for her cooking and baking skills. Her grandchildren will always remember her apple pies as being the best.
Phyllis enjoyed her time working at the Apple Hut, where she hand-picked the apples that she used to bake the pies. Later in life, she went on to work for Beloit Precision Die Co., where she ran the punch press and enjoyed the company of the people with whom she worked. She was named “Older Worker of the Year” by the Rock County Private Industry Council, for which she (and her friends and family) were all proud.
She is survived by her daughters-in-law: Kristie and Debbie (Dooley), brother: Mark Saunders, grandchildren: Aaron (Kim) Dooley, Kyla (Jerrad) Wilke, Matthew Dooley and Derek Dooley, great-grandchildren Jaxson Dooley, Jagger, Jemma, and Janncy Wilke, Samuel Dooley, Aryiana and Steven Dooley, Hannah and Levi Halterman, as well as many other friends and family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Laverne in 1987, her sons Michael and Steven, brothers Bob, Jim, Allen, Rick, Lee (and their spouses.)
The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Health & Rehabilitation and Beloit Regional Hospice for their dedication to Phyllis and extraordinary care.
