Phyllis Meyer, age 83, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at her daughter’s home. Born on September 20, 1942, in Grafton, North Dakota, to Daniel and Leona Ebertowski, she grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  

Phyllis married Ken Meyer, and together they raised their two daughters during 11 professional transfers with the Kmart Corporation spanning seven states. Beloit was their final transfer in 1981. Phyllis chose to raise her daughters before entering the professional arena where she enjoyed working at Freeman Shoes, First National Bank, and finally at Senz Insurance. 
 
Phyllis’ passion was connecting with people and helping where she was needed. She devoted thousands of hours to volunteering with the Lions/Lioness organization, including children’s vision screening, delivering eyes for organ donor gifts, and raising awareness about the importance of vision. For decades, she delivered Meals on Wheels, rang bells for the Salvation Army during Christmas, collected and donated necessities for homeless veterans, volunteered in many church functions and committees, and worked for 22 years as a volunteer in the Beloit Memorial Gift Shop. 
 

Phyllis’ younger daughter was born with Down syndrome, and Phyllis devoted many hours to Special Olympics. More importantly, Phyllis was gifted in helping people understand that those with Down syndrome are not born with an affliction, but with a gift of love, empathy, and innocence—Michele was the light of her eye. 
 

Ken and Michele left this world early, and Phyllis was blessed to meet David Peltier, who became her soulmate for 33 years. Together, they traveled the U.S. and the world, seeking adventures either on their own or with friends. They loved life and each other until David recently passed away. 
 
Phyllis was loved by so many people, and her memory and laughter will be remembered for a long time. She left a larger-than-life impression on this earth, for certain. 
 
Phyllis is survived by her eldest daughter, Patricia Hall; her two grandchildren, Bradley Shea and Sarah Hoffman; and her great-grandchildren, Grant and Aubrey Hoffman. Her siblings are Gary Ebertowski, Judy Groh, Jane Olson, and Joan Chromy. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Leona Ebertowski; her husband, Ken Meyer; her partner, David Peltier; her daughter, Michele Meyer; and her sister, June Paulson. 
 
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brian Mark Funeral Home in Beloit, Wisconsin. A short visitation will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Our Lady of Assumption in Beloit, Wisconsin.
