Ronald J. Monk, 91, of Beloit died Thursday August 3, 2023, at Beloit Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born January 1, 1932, in Cicero, IL. Ron attended Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1950. He married Alyce R. Crosby on April 30, 1955, in Beloit. Ron was a Korean War veteran and served in the 11th Airborne training jumpers. After the war, he worked 44 years for Beloit Corp; from sweeping floors to working his way up to executive- of- the year before retiring. Ron was the co-founder of RC Fliers. He enjoyed salmon fishing and rebuilding Model A’s. Ron was a self-made man with the help of Harvey and Elizabeth Winton, and he returned the favor by caring for them until their death. He was a true patriarch and was quite a character.
He is survived by his son, Scott (Debby) Monk of Juneau, WI; daughter, Lorene (Jerry) Peer of Beloit; daughter-in-law, Victoria Monk, nine grandchildren, Jason Lichtfuss, step-grandson, Andrew Faas, Elizabeth Monk, Kristina Peer, Greg Monk, Sky Leigh Monk, Amanda Peer, Coral Kincaid, Jeremie Peer and Kaitlyn Peer; 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Alyce, sons, Steven C. Monk and Christopher B. Monk, sister, Ramona Schaefier, brothers, Richard Monk, Christopher “Darrell” Monk and Dewayne Monk, sisters-in-law Joan Monk, Marty Monk and Clarice Monk, and mother-in-law Irene Crosby.
Ron’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 9, 2023, 2023, in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway with David Meding officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday August 8 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday in the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full Military Burial Rites & Interment will follow the service in Eastlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
