Rosemary Cox Obituary

Rosemary Ann (Nelson) Cox (Rosie) was born on July 17, 1933, and lived a full life until August 28, 2024.  Her parents were Jess E., Sr. and Luella (Rule) Nelson, and Jess Jr. was the big brother she adored.  She loved God, family, friends, animals and music.  She attended Cunningham (where she was a marble champion), Lincoln (where she met Howie) and Beloit Memorial.  Rosie always loved conversations and socializing.  She walked and biked all over the west side of Beloit to spend time with friends, swim, skate and play games.  In high school, she participated in Beloit Natatorium water ballet / synchronized swim team.

Rosie married Howard Cox on May 9, 1953, and they moved to Apponaug, Rhode Island, while he served in the Navy.  When they returned to Beloit, life became very busy – 4 children born within 7 years and building the house on Park Avenue, where she lived happily for 6 decades.  The house was a family and neighborhood hub and Rosie was the heart of the family.

Rosie’s faith was always very important to her. She was a longtime, active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She trusted that God would always be with her and talked to Him frequently.  Rosie had an attitude of acceptance and gratitude in all things.  She spoke of “challenges” not problems. Her go-to phrase was “I’m working with it”.  Rosie talked often of the “Angels” who showed up in daily life to assist her with what needed to be done.

She is survived by 4 children: Cindy Blair, Leslie (Terry) Sugden, Mike (Tracy) Cox, Charlene Kepler, 9 grandchildren: Stephanie (Joe Meyer) Curtis, Kyle Blair, Matt (Tina) Sugden, Amanda (Casey) Sugden-Nelson, Geoff Sugden, Danni Cox, Lauren (Will) Zerey, Brittany (Brian) Keally, Chris (Olivia Dunkleberger) Kepler, and 7 great-grandchildren: Collin (Brooke Pehl) Nelson, Brady & Alyssa Nelson, Noah & Elijah Sugden, Olivia & Owen Zerey, also her sister-in-law Darlene Nelson.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, her brother and several beloved canines.
