Sara Fillbach Obituary

Sara J. Fillbach, age 62, of Beloit, WI died December 10th, 2024, at UW Hospital in Madison, WI surrounded by her family. Sara was born June 13, 1962, to the late Jerry and Marilyn (Sievert) Druckrey at Walson Army Hospital on Fort Dix, NJ. She grew up in Beloit. Sara graduated from Beloit Memorial HS, class of 1980. She graduated from UW–Madison in 1984, with a BA in Communication Arts, then she started her career at Beloit Cablevision and later Beloit Memorial Hospital.  She left the workforce to raise her children full-time, and later returned to work at Beloit College. Sara married Zach Fillbach on September 8th, 1984. Their love story began in the 8th grade when they met at Roosevelt Junior High.

Sara would light up any room with her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile. A socialite, she found joy spreading her light among friends.  She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, preferably somewhere warm with a beach. Sara's true passion was her boys.  You could see her heart and soul pour out when she was with them, talking or thinking about them, they were her life. This passion was not limited to her own children. Her compassion and love for children was endless, and she had a mother’s intuition for knowing when a young person was having trouble. She responded with unparalleled warmth, loving hugs and never-ending passion to listen to their troubles. She would give thoughtful advice and would keep in touch with them to make sure everything was alright. In adulthood, these children continued to reach out to Sara for advice, to update her on their lives, and receive a warm hug; she loved hearing from all her children.

Sara also loved spending quality time with her parents and in-laws and reveled in their abundant generational knowledge. In her words she had the honor of caring for her parents and in-laws until they left this earth.

She is survived by her husband of forty years Zach Fillbach, sons Mitch (Lindsey) Fillbach of St. Paul, MN, and Nick Fillbach of America.  Her sister Dawn (Joe) Richie of Stillwater, MN, and brother CDR Scot (Lisa) Druckrey (retd.) of Cape Coral, FL. Brother-in-law Dana (Coleen) Fillbach, sisters-in-law Deanna Cushman and Julie (Paul) Murphy. Nieces, Ali Murphy, Abbie Murphy, nephews, Max (Rory Briski) Richie, Luke (Elizabeth) Richie, Josh (Sarah) Cushman, Zach (Kayla) Murphy and Clay (Kayla) Fillbach. She was preceded by her in-laws Barbara and Reo Fillbach.
