Thomas "Pokey" Garland, age 57, died on Wednesday July 17, 2019 after a short battle with aggressive lung cancer at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born May 18, 1962 to the late Lyle and Genevieve "Jill" (Brooks) Garland in Beloit. Tom enjoyed construction work and owned and operated American Custom Concrete for many years. He had a great sense of humor and was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. Tom also enjoyed music and spending time with family and friends. He lived and worked in Oregon State for many years, leaving behind many friends and extended family. Tom will be remembered as "working hard and playing hard."
He is survived by his two sons, Tom (Tasha) Garland and Michael Boone; four grandchildren, Thomas, Kallie, Dominic & Jack; two brothers, James Podschweit and Robert Garland; four sisters, Vickie (Paul) Lewis, Tracy Langford, Geri Garland and Brenda Garland; the mother of his children, Dawn Windsor; father in law, Clyde Windsor and many friends. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins that adored him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Tim.
